Jason Penopolis (Voiced by H. Jon Benjamin) Jason is Brendon’s co-star who is noticeably more emotionally stunted, but can be much more aware of his surroundings and situations than others.

Jason is a stout, fair-skinned 7-year-old. He has short brown hair and wears an orange overall.
Background[]
Jason in the early episodes is portrayed as the most aloof and innocent of the group. He speaks in a soft stuffy voice. Jason often grosses his friends out with his unhygienic habits and, according to Brendon, has a short attention span. He is a gifted actor but tends to overwrite his jokes according to Melissa. He is shown to not be a fighter, as when he is bullied by Shannon, he does not attempt to take action against him. Jason will resort to more underhanded tactics like bribing and using his rich parents' status to get what he wants later in the show. As the series progresses, Jason becomes slightly more critical of his friends, especially Melissa. Despite his flaws, he ultimately gets along well with his friends when making their projects.
Subtle irony throughout the series suggests that, while Jason's parents are never seen, they are rich, but not around or aware of Jason's pastimes, including the fact that he is always hanging out with Brendon and Melissa making films, though he himself is at least partially unaware that they tape them. He has suffered dangerous and massive attacks of sugar addiction on several occasions that Melissa usually helps him overcome. His feelings for Melissa are often very mixed—at one time, he told Brendon his reveal that she's a good person, but a terrible actress in order to get himself a leading role in a film; at another time, he was more than eager to participate when Brendon suggested he and Melissa kiss. In "Fours Company" he tells Brendon he wants to marry her.

- Jason's last name has been spelled out as Panopolis (in "The Art of the Sucker Punch" within the closed captions), Penopolis (in "Time to Pay the Price"), Popodopolis (in "History"), and Penopopolis (in "Focus Grill").
- Jason is the only main character who is not named after his voice actor.
- He has a Massachusetts accent when he screams.
